Putao, located in Kachin State, is also the northernmost town of Kachin State, Burma. Visitors can only get to Putao by road during summer, however; it is accessible year round by air if there are enough tourists to justify a plane.
This area is famous for having the highest mountain and the only region of snowfall in South East Asia. Moreover, Putao, also known as “Black Orchid”, attracts many orchid lovers due to it has variety of endemic birds and rare orchids which grow naturally in the western and eastern mountainous area.
