Located in the north of the city, Inya Lake is the largest lake in Yangon. It was an artificial lake created by the British for water supply.
This is a popular recreational place with the public park on the southwestern bank. The surrounding area ranks in the most exclusive neighborhoods in Yangon. On the eastern shore is the famous Inya Lake Hotel, and on southwest of the lake is the University of Yangon. There are also many expensive villas, and upscale restaurants.
