Confirmation of booking
It is very important to please email us to confirm your pick up hotel at
least 24 hours prior to departure. This confirmation helps to avoid
delays in our departure.
Dress standards are conservative, especially outside major cities. To
respect this and for your own comfort, we strongly recommend modest
clothing. This means clothing that covers your shoulders and knees.
Loose, lightweight, long clothing is both respectful and cool in the
predominantly hot Cambodia climate.
Children must be between 6 and 11 years of age inclusive.
If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides and
drivers a tip – though not compulsory – is appropriate. While it may not
be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will
take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and
is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Far East
Vacation destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your
extra expenses on this tour.
Explore Phnompenh by cyclo. Learn about Cambodia’s connection with France and Vietnam at the Independence and Cambodia/Vietnam monuments. Spot monkeys at Wat Phnom. Explore Central and Russian Markets. Enjoy Khmer delicacies. Walk near where the Tonle Bassac, Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers meet and taste fried cricket!
You will be picked up at your hotel between 8.30AM and 9.00AM. Today we explore Phnompenh, a chaotic, energetic and fascinating city. Graceful tree-lined boulevards and riverfront promenades are reminders of bygone eras, today they teem with activity. Motorcycles weave in and out of traffic, vendors hawk their wares, and drivers call for business.
Starting from your centrally located hotel or from various points around the city we take a cyclo tour of the impressive French Khmer colonial buildings of Phnompenh. Visit the home of Buddhism in Cambodia – Wat Ounalom which was founded in 1443. See the site of the filming of City of Ghosts staring Matt Dillon and Gerard Depardieu. Spot monkeys and perhaps have your fortune told at the “Wat on the hill” – Wat Phnom. Explore Central Market located in a distinctive domed Art Deco building.
Hear about Cambodia’s connection with France and Vietnam at the Independence Monument, and the Cambodia/Vietnam friendship monument.
Enjoy traditional Khmer delicacies for lunch at a not for profit organization set up to assist Cambodia’s street children before heading out to explore again.
If you are here on a week day we may be lucky enough to watch the Apsara Arts Association dancers as they rehearse the country and Royal dances for their Saturday performances.
Shop at the sprawling Russian Market, a labyrinth of stalls selling silks, crafts, jewelry and more.
We finish our tour with a walk on the riverfront at the Chatomok where the Tonle Bassac, Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers meet. In the early evening market stalls set up selling fried cockroaches, spiders, crickets or grasshoppers or other culinary delights. This vacation is one of the best Cambodia Vacations.
