Today, we have a trip to explore the ancient Tant Kyi pagoda. This pagoda was built in 1059 and is surrounded by 32 elephant statues. It is fascinating to walk around the complex before taking a boat trip across the Irrawaddy River to explore the fringed sandbanks and local farms.
Our tour guide will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to Tant Kyi, also known as the Glass Monastery. Our trip begins by boat across the river, where we will observe the beautiful scenery along the river side. Upon arrival, we take the steps up to the Tant Kyi, go through the local villages. To reach the hill, will take around 1- 1.5 hours but there are plenty of places to rest and enjoy along the way.
At the top of the hill, it is time for us to explore the pagoda. Admire the sacred and ancient Tant Kyi and contemplate the spectacular vistas and rest in the cool shade of the temple grounds.
There are some surrounding caves that include various Buddha images of unique styles.
After the visit, we go down by jeep. It will take 25- 30 minutes from hill to the boat. You will have some leisure time before returning to Bagan.
