Yangon, Golden Rock

This tour is highly suitable for those who have discovery passion for more pristine and untouched lands in Myanmar. Mawlamyine is generally considered to be off the main tourist trail but the town does have a charm with its rich history, buildings with colonial style architecture and World War II era wooden buses, making it a fascinating place to visit. Whereas Hpa An is famous for its spectacular limestone ranges and picturesque landscapes. Take your camera and get ready to trek with Far East Vacation!

Day 1: Yangon Arrival & City Tour

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to the hotel. Begin to explore this bustling former capital by visiting Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda and Karaweik Palace with the fantastic view of the Royal Lake. Admire unique architecture of Yangon with its British colonial buildings while walking from Sule Pagoda to China Town. Observe the golden sunset at Shwedagon Pagoda, the most sacred Buddhist pagoda for the Burmese.

Day 2: Yangon – Mawlamyine

Transfer to Mawlamyine, a charming city with rich history, colonial style architecture and World War II era wooden buses. Enjoy the relaxing walk along the strand road of Thanlwin River.

Day 3: Mawlamyine Sightseeing

Spend a full day to explore Mawlamyine and its highlights include Win Sein Tawya Buddha Image and Kyaikmayow Pagoda. Drop by the interesting local toddy palm houses for a Jaggery (Myanmar chocolate) experience. Explore Sein Don Queen Monastery, Kyaikthanlan Pagoda, U Zi Na Pagoda and conclude the day by observing the paranomic view of sunset on top of Mawlamyine Hill.

Day 4: Mawlamyine – Hpa An

After breakfast, enjoy the boat trip to Hpa An, the capital of Kayin State. Visit U Now Village (Mon Village) to experience the local culture of the Mon Tribes. Conquer Zwekabin Hill and after that Kawgum Cave, then conclude the day by visiting Kyaukka Latt and Shwe Yin Mhaw Pagoda.

Day 5: Hpa An – Kyaikhtiyo – Golden Rock

On the way to Kyaikhtiyo, visit Bayint Nyi Cave, Rathi Mountain, Kyikan Mouth Cave and start trekking to Golden Rock on top of Mount Kyaikhtiyo, the third most important pilgrimage after Shwedagon Pagoda and Mahamuni Pagoda. Observe the breath-taking view of sunset on top of the mountain.

Day 6: Kyaikhtiyo – Bago – Yangon

Continue to Bago, an ancient capital dating back to the 6th century, to explore Kanbawzathadi Palace built by King Bayint Naung in 1551. Discover Kyakhatwine Monastery, where thousands of monks take their last meal of the day at 10am in silence and serenity, then continue to Shwemawdaw Pagoda and Hinthargone Hillock. Learn about World War II Allied War Cemetery on the way back to Yangon.

Day 7: Yangon Shopping & Departure

Enjoy some shopping at Yangon’s Scott Market until being transferred to the airport for your flight home. Farewell to Myanmar, we hope you enjoyed your time and will be leaving this country with countless memorable stories and captivating pictures of the entire journey.
